The ground-breaking ceremony was held on April 26, to the delight of a group of more than fifty people associated with the project, as well as local media. It was confirmed that Rendez-Vous Ryan is the most important investment and development project in Mont-Tremblant in 2018. All-told, more than $20 million will be invested in the hotel, the construction of the restaurant facilities and the fit-out of the restaurant operators. This amount exceeds the $17 million investment that was announced by Alterra for improvements to the base of the mountain. More than 65 jobs will be created from the hotel and restaurants to be on site, opening in time for the winter 2018 winter ski season. The mayor outlined that this is a most welcome development, being situated at the true gateway to the region, and appreciated the efforts made to install the theme of the forestry industry into the design and construction of the hotel, with its white pine portico and imagery that will be prominent throughout the lobby and corridors.
The event and its announcement made the front page and page 3 of the local paper.
